My father was a dentist and I'm married to a pediatric dentist. Growing up, I always knew I wanted to work in the dental field. I chose orthodontics as I like the aesthetic component, combined with the science. Each day presents its own challenges and I constantly have to think of new techniques and approaches to solve each patient's malocclusion.
Seeing the happiness on a patient's face when we're finished and I show them their before and after photos is incredibly rewarding. They can't look away from the mirror and are unable to stop grinning!”

Karl Swenson

Dr. Swenson grew up in Manson, a small farming town in the northwest part of Iowa. He's called Cedar Rapids home since 2012.
His wife, Sarah, is a pediatric dentist in Cedar Rapids and Marion. The couple has two children: Caleb and Sydney. Their family also includes a yellow lab, Kinnick.
Dr. Swenson and his family love to travel, especially to Moose Lake in northern Wisconsin. He is an avid sports fan, cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Cubs, and Manchester United.
He shuttles his kids to sports practices and tries to sneak in a round of golf when he can. He also enjoys cooking but does not do the dishes!
